  • Description:Three-quarter length portrait of a young woman facing to the front and wearing a short-sleeved empire-waisted light green satin gown. She has an elaborate bonnet with plumed feathers at the crown, a brim slightly shading her face, and a long flowing tie under her chin. Her right hand is clasping and pulling the dress up slightly and her left is hanging by her side. The background is a mottled blue, yellow and green.
  • History:Attributed to a student of Edmund Charles Tarbell (1862-1938), a noted American Impressionist painter. In 1889, Tarbell became a teacher at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
