Absolom Kyle (1789-1854) In the 1820's, Absolom and William Kyle established the Great Eastern and Western Stage Lines, which started the first stagecoach line from Bristol to Knoxville. Absolom was also successful in lobbying the Federal government to make Rogersville a stop along the new stagecoach line that was being established between Atlanta and Washington, DC. Absolom was a successful banker, and he went on to become the President of the Bank of Tennessee at Rogersville. Absolom's son, Absalom A. Kyle, became a prominent member of the Tennessee bar and held the office of attorney general for the first judicial circuit of the state of Tennessee from 1846 until 1854.
