History:Painting descended through the Acklen family until it returned to the Belmont Mansion collection.
Notes:Elizabeth Hunt Acklen (1787-1859) was the daughter of John Hunt the founder of Huntsville, Alabama and wife of Samuel Black Acklen. This painting was commissioned by her son Joseph A. S. Acklen and hung at his estate, Belmont.
