Description:Full length of a young girl sitting on a stone baluster. Dressed in white, she is barefoot and holding a basket of flowers in her right hand. She has auburn ringlet curls. A lush landscape is in the background.
History:Artist, either the minister's daughter (Myra) or his wife (known only as Mrs. Frederick Augustus Thompson), was working in The Manse, home of the minister of the Presbyterian Church in Spring Hill . Owner believes the minister's wife to be the artist, matching her time in Philadelphia, her age, and the sophistication of the execution. Very likely a posthumous work based on the imagery.
Notes:Subject lived on a farm in Williamson County near the Maury County line, and died in 1884 at age 3. See file for more info.
