Description:Bust-length rectangular nearly frontal of an old man with a nearly full head of white hair, combed back and cut above the collar of his black, formal coat. He also wears a black tie and white shirt. His eyeglass frames are circular and appear almost white or silver-colored.
History:Restored by Cumberland Art Conservation Center in 1999.
Notes:Subject was born in 1771 or 1772 in Virginia. He married Sallie Spillman 9/11/1794 in Westmoreland County, VA. They had 10 children. He died in KY 3/27/1849. Dr. W.K. Bowling was their 6th child, born 1808.
