Notes:Elizabeth McEwen Boyd was born February 23, 1788 in Rowan County, North Carolina. She was the eldest of seven children born to John McEwen and his wife Elizabeth Kilpatrick, and the second generation of McEwens born in America. She was a granddaughter of John McKoun of Scotland. She, her parents, and siblings migrated to Davidson County, Tennessee circa, 1802. She married John Boyd, a widower, in 1817. They had no children. John did have children from his previous marriage. Their home for 25 years was formerly known as the Lucas Place on the Richland Creek. After his death in 1847, she moved to the McEwen Farm, then known as Locust Grove, on Franklin Road. She lived there until her death on December 29, 1861, and is buried beside her husband in the Nashville City Cemetery, (Section 27-East-Lot 8). In her Will she left her entire estate to her niece, Wm. Elizabeth McEwen Stones.
