History:This portrait is of a young woman wearing a brown modified Empire style dress with a white ruffle at top of dress front. There is a small pin below the ruffle at the center of the dress. Her hair is light brown and pulled behind her ears and then cascades down into loose curls.
Notes:Elizabeth Banks Boyers married Robert Morris Boyers December 28, 1817 in Gallatin, TN at the age of 20. This is thought to be a wedding portrait painted shortly after her marriage. She was born in Murfreesboro, NC. This portrait is a match to her husband's portrait, no. 83.29.
