  • Description:Three-quarter length portrait of a seated older man with greying hair parted on the left. He is wearing a black suit and soft tie and a high-collared white shirt. His right hand rests in his lap and his left holds a cane with an elaborate gilded top. His right elbow rests on a table, and his bright blue eyes are looking at the viewer. Above his left shoulder, an outdoor scene is visible through a window or possibly on another painting.
  • History:Painted near Gallatin.
  • Notes:Born in Virgina; married Margaret Norton in December 1791 in Caswell County, NC; died in Williamson County, TN. Thomas Bradley fought at the Battle of Kings Mtn with his older brothers James and Edward Bradley. Later he fought in the Indian Wars with Andrew Jackson. Owner is great-great-great-grandson of Gen Bradley. General Bradley lived from 17 Dec. 1765-13 May 1849.
