Description:Three quarters length portrait of former U.S. Congressman Bob Clement standing before the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. Subject is gray haired and wearing glasses. Subject is wearing a suit with a striped necktie. Subject’s hands are clasped in front of his waist. The artist’s signature is present in the lower right hand corner.
History:Commissioned by former CEO of Dollar General Cal Turner, Jr. in 2021 for the Clement Railroad Hotel Museum in Dickson, TN (the site where Bob Clement’s father, Governor Frank G. Clement, was born in 1920). The portrait was completed in 2022 and delivered to the Clement Museum by the artist Joseph Sulkowski. The frame is original and the portrait hangs in the dining room of the Clement Museum.
Notes:Born September 23, 1943; Bob Clement is the the eldest child of Tennessee Governor Frank G. Clement and Lucille Christianson Clement. During his long political career, Clement served as a member of the TN Public Service Commission (at age 29), as a Board member of the T.V.A., as President of Cumberland University (1983 -1987), and as a U.S. Congressman from 1988 – 2003.
