Notes:Col. N. N. Cox (1837-1901) was born in Bedford County, TN and spent his childhood in Texas. He returned to TN as an adult and enlisted as a Captain in the calvary service of the the Confederate Army in 1861. He served under Nathan Bedford Forrest and was captured at the battle of Parkers Crossroads in West TN and sent to Camp Chase. While confined at the prison camp, he was appointed Colonel of the 10th Tn Calvary and held this position from his release until the end of the Civil War.
