History:Subject born April 1934 in NYC and died in Nashville, Tennessee. She was raised in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Parents, John and Henrietta Rose, and Grandparents, Henry and Stella Fitch, were friends of the artist who was also from Bowling Green. Sarah Gaines Peyton (1896-1997) studied at Randolph-Macon College, in NYC at Arts Students League, and with Sophronisba Hergesheimer. Artist signature is in lower right.
Notes: Henrietta Davis was a member of the Nashville Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and earned her PhD in Educational Administration from George Peabody College for Teachers. She was also the first female Director of Human Resorces at Vanderbilt University and then later served Tennesee State University in the same capacity.
