  • Description:Oval of a gentleman facing three-quarter left. His long dark hair is parted slightly on his right, and he is wearing a white high-collared shirt, white vest and dark coat with wide lapels trimmed in a darker color. He is looking directly at the viewer and wears a very stern expression. His lower face is jowly and his mouth is drawn down in a frown.
  • Notes:Born in Culpepper County, Virginia during the 1750s. Died in 1825. In 1784, he became one of the two practicing attorneys in Nashville. He represented Sumner County, North Carolina at both conventions for the ratification of the U.S. Constitution. He served as Lieutenant Colonel of Sumner County Infantry, Tennessee Militia.
