Description:eated portrait of a man, perhaps aged 30, dressed in black formalwear and white shirt. His arms are folded across his body. His auburn hair is combed back from his face. Althought he has a large nose, the most distinctive features of his face are the eyes. The right eye is perhaps false for the iris is larger and has a dull, unfocused quality compared to the left. The subject's head is very large compared to the diminuitive scale suggested by the the torso and especially the hands. The chair is red, as are the drapes on the right side of the frame.
History:The subject of this work also appears in a Foster family painting held by Cheekwood Fine Arts Center of Nashville, TN.
