Description:Three-quarter length portrait of subject seated in a pattern-upholstered armchair. She is facing three-quarter right with her head turned to look directly at the viewer. She is wearing a blue short-sleeved scoop-necked dress with filmy overlay on the sleeve and has a shawl of the same material crossing her lap and held by her left hand. She has a pearl three-strand choker and short necklace and pearl drop earrings with a matching bracelet on her left wrist. Her greying hair is short and curly. Her right arm is on the chair arm with her hand loosely falling over the end.
History:This portrait hung at the Gray home on the SW corner of Bowling and West End and was given to Celia Gray Walton Edwards, her grandniece, where it was displayed at her home until her death in 2008. It was gifted to her nephew, the current owner.
