History:Felix Grundy was a member of what was then known as The Nashville Presbyterian Church by 1807. A lawyer and a judge, he had served both Kentucky and Tennessee in Congress as a senator. He also went to Washington as Attorney General of the United States during the presidency of Martin Van Buren. He was born in Virginia in 1777 and died in Nashville in 1840. He had been a trusted friend of three presidents: Andrew Jackson, Van Buren, and James K. Polk.
Notes:His wife, Ann Grundy, started Nashville's first Sunday School. Her portrait is in the front hall of the Cheek House.
