  • Description:Subject is seated with left arm on a table and facing viewer. He is wearing a black coat and vest with a white shirt and black bow tie. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
  • History:Copy of 1840s original.
  • Notes:Subject was born in 1797 at Uppenheim on the Rhine in Germany and died 27 July 1870 in Nashville, TN. He married Magdalena Koehler of Pottsville, PA. They had 13 children, 10 of whom lived to adulthood. They were: Eliza, Nathan John, George, Caroline, Killian, Louisa, Harriet, Sarah, Amanda and Clara. Subject was a tent boy or assistant to Napoleon in his Russian campaign.
