  • History:Oil painting surface is slightly crackled. The frame needs releafing. Subject is a white male in a dark suit and tie with a white shirt.
  • Notes:Sam Houston fought in the Indian Wars with Andrew Jackson. He served as Governor of Tn 1827-1829. He resigned from that position when he and his first wife, Eliza Allen, separated and divorced. He went on to serve as President of the Republic of Texas before Texas joined the United States and later served as a Senator from Texas.
