  • Description:Silver-haired Jackson with ruddy cheeks in seated position. Hair is combed back and falls to below his ears. Eyes blue. Dark suit and tie with with shirt. Masonic stole with 10 stars. Both hands visible. Left hand holds an object. Arm appears to rest on side table with face-down open book. Dark background suggests a landscape at dawn or dusk.
  • History:The artist, Washington Bogart Cooper, was commissioned to paint most of the Grand Masters, which explains the approximate date of Claiborne's portrait.
  • Notes:Masonic years 1822-1823.
