  • History:The portrait, copied after Sargent by Alexander R. James, hangs in the Faye and Joe Wyatt Center for Education on the Peabody Campus of Vanderbilt University.
  • Notes:Philanthropist, John D. Rockefeller, organizer of the Standard Oil Company, established the Geneeral Education Board in 1902 for the promotion of education in America. Both Peabody College, as well as Vanderbilt University, benetifed greatly from this fund. Mr. Rockefeller made a generous, personal donation for the building of the Social Religious Building (now Wyatt Ctr. for Education) on Peabody's "new" campus in 1915.
