  • Description:Oval bust-length of young woman wearing a dark off-the-shoulders dress with white lace trim at the neckline and in rows under the short sleeves. Her dark hair is parted in the middle and looped back over her ears, and she is wearing long drop earrings and a gold beaded choker with a cross hanging from it. She is looking to the left of the viewer, and the background is mottled golds and browns.

  • Notes:Great grandmother of owner. Subject (b. 4 February 1840; d. 26 February 1914) was daughter of William F. Lytle (born 17 August 1805; Murfreesboro, Tennessee, died 9 March 1863; Murfreesboro, Tennessee) and his 2nd wife Mary Logan Lytle (born 21 December 1818; Williamson County, Tennessee; died 10 March 1844, Murfreesboro, Tennessee). Miss Lytle married, on 1 April 1866, William Ledbetter, son of William Ledbetter and his wife, Rebecca Welborn Ledbetter.
