Description:Frame is original solid gold chased. Glass replaced by Wiebold. Oval of a young man with fine-textured blond hair combed from his right to left. Right ear is almost hidden by the hair. His eyes are light-colored and his complexion smooth. Dressed in a black coat with one covered button showing, black buttoned vest, black tie and white shirt.

Notes:This miniature was given by Lewis to Miss Narcissa Sanders of Nashville (see file) when he was seeking her hand in marraige (unsuccessfully). He never married. She never married, and although she was born to great wealth, she died in poverty. He was an attorney and became Alabama's 23rd governor (1872-74), known as "The Reconstruction Governor."
