  • Description:Subject is seated in a red-upholstered chair and facing slightly left, although her dark eyes are turned to look at the viewer. Her dark brown hair is parted in the middle and falls in ringlets behind her ears. She is wearing long drop earrings and a necklace of white beads. Her off-the-shoulder dark dress has very full puffed sleeves and a brooch at the neckline. Subject is holding a red book in her left hand, which crosses her front and has a ring on the ring finger, and she has a bracelet on that left arm. A brown drape falls down the wall to her left.
  • Notes:Great, Great Grandmother of owner. Subject was daughter of William Logan 1774-1823 TN) and his wife Catherine Henderson Logan (1781 NC-1824 TN); subject was the 2nd wife of William F. P. Lytle (1805 TN-1863 TN). She was the mother of Mary C. Lytle Ledbetter. She was first cousin of the 1st Mrs. William Lytle, Violet Cecilia Henderson.
