Description:Oval waist-length of a heavy-set man in a black jacket and vest and tie. His shirt is white. He has dark slightly wavy hair and bushy black sideburns below his ears.
History:Probably painted posthumously. Restored by Cumberland Art Conservaion 1980.
Notes: Subject was born 4/30/1796 in Hawkins County, TN and died 8/18/1856. He was a prosperous farmer, whose daughter married Col. John Overton. The Maxwells settled in Davidson County in 1797. More documentation in the file.
