Description:Waist-length oval of man in a CSA 3-star general's uniform. He has red hair and a full red beard. Subject is turned to hide the fact that his right ear had been cut off.
Notes:Subject was mayor of Nashville 1857-58. He lived for a time with Mr./Mrs. James K. Polk at their home at 7th Ave. & Union. He was married and left the next day for the war and died never to see his wife again. He was in his early 30s at the time of his death.
