Description:Bust-length of somber-looking boy facing the viewer directly and wearing a dark coat over a white shirt. A very small tie or pin is at the neck of his shirt, and his short dark brown hair is parted on his left. Newton Ford was probably 10 to 12 years old at the time this painting was made.
Notes:Augusta Ford Molloy, wife of Ferdinand Malloy, brought Newton Ford and his sister, Eleanor, to Murfreesboro in the late 1800s. Augusta bought a farm on the Old Salem Road which is still farmed by the Molloy family.
