  • Description:Napoleon is shown riding a white horse and leading his men, some on black horses, some walking, away from the Russian front in the snow. He is wearing a long winter coat and a hat typical of most portraits of Napoleon. He has his right hand tucked into the fron of his coat.
  • History:A commissioned work by local artist Richard Painter.
  • Notes:Dr. Phillip Harsh (in other portraits) was a tent boy or assistant to Napoleon during the Russian campaign.
