History:A handwritten note is attached to the back: "Likeness of Mrs. May Overton of Nashville, Tennessee. Painted by John W. Dodge at Pomona, Tenn Octr. 1890. Age of the artist, 83 years."
Notes:Sitter died March 1890, so this is a posthumous work. Work had insect damage that was repaired by Lyzon in 1990.
