History:Work was done from a daguerreotype (inposssession of the owner) where the subject appears to be about age 50. The owner has much documentation for this portrait and many personal effects belonging to the subject including her Bible, cap, etc.
Notes:Subject was born June 16, 1801 in New Paltz, Ulster County. New York, and was the mother of James Tillou Palmer who built 4412 Warner Place, where the portrait is located. James Palmer was a Union soldier who remained in the area after the war, building one of the first houses in Belle Meade. Subject was the wife of Lockwood Palmer (1793-1865), and she lived at Four Corners in Cayuga County, New York.
