  • Description: An old woman with grey hair seated, facing right, wearing a purple flowered blouse and a purple skirt, three strands of pearls and amethyst earrings. One arm is reating on the arm of the chair and the other is in her lap.
  • History:This portrait was commissioned by Knox Polk (Van Zandt) of her mother. Mellicent Trabue was Knox's first cousin and Virginia's niece. Mellicent's father (Joseph Gibson Prichard) and Virginia were brother and sister. Upon the death of Knox Polk Van Zandt, the portait was left to her daughter, the current owner.
