  • Description:Subject is seated on red Victorian loveseat/sofa, hands crossed at waist, hoding a red book. She is wearing a tan dress with short sleeves, no collar. Her hair is white/grey but she has a youthful appearnace. She is wearing a choker necklance and braclets on both wrists and a ring on her left hand. A painting of a home hangs behind the sofa.
  • History:Anton Vorauer was an Australian artist who came to Nashville to paint a Methodist bishop. Subject was born 1889; died June 18, 1970. She is mother of Anne Powell Lowe and Hortense Cooper (Mrs. Prentiss Cooper, widow of Governor of Tennessee and mother of Congressman Jim Cooper.) She lived in Johnson City, Tennessee. She was the granddaughter of Emily McGavock Hayes.
