Description:Full-length of a woman in elaborate robes stepping up to a chair on a raised platform.
History:After a work by Thomas Sully "Queen Victoria in her Robes of State in the House of Lords." Original to Belmont Mansion, this painting traditionally hangs at the head of the staircase. Joseph Acklen reportedly purchased it in New Orleans for $5,000. William, his son, inherited it and left it to the Valentine Museum who traded it to the Historic Richmond Foundation from whom it was acquired by Belmont.
