Notes:Age 8, she was the daughter of Charles Brimage Bate (1873-1957) and Nora Turner Bate (died 1963) of Castalian Springs, Tennessee. She was married to Idle Roberson in 1926, and she became the first Black girl from Sumner County to graduate from college. She taught school for 41 years, was a Sunday school teacher, president of Missionary Society, and Gallatin Citizen of the Year in 1990. In 1995 she became Mary Catherine Strobel Volunteer of the year recipient.
