History:This portrait was commisioned in 1986 by the Vanderbilt Board of Trust in honor of Mr. Fleming. Portrait is displayed in Kirkand Hall along with portraits of other former chairmen of the University's Board of Trust.
Notes:Mr. Fleming served as chairman of the board from 1975 - 1981. An alumnus of Vanderbilt, he was affiliated with the Thrid National Bank of Nashville for over fifty years. He was a member of the Vanderbilt Board of Trust from 1952 until his death in 2000. He was the recipient of the prestigious Trustee of the Year for Private Universities from the Association of Governing Boards in 1983.
