History:Portrait subject is an older, caucasian male wearing a dark jacket, white shirt and collar. The portrait was given by the family in 1925 to the State Library and it was accepted by John Trotwood Moore.
Notes:Newell Sanders was born and educated in Indiana. He came to Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1877. He was a manufacturer of agricultural implements and was on the Board of Directors for the Nashville, Chattanooga, and St. Louis Railroad. He served in the U.S. Senate 1912-1913.
