History:Presented to the library in memory of Shelby's great granddaughter Anna Williams Fassman by her daughter Shelby S. Cox. The portrait was restored at Cumberland Art Conservation Center in 2002.
Notes:Born in 1793, Anna Maria Minnick Shelby was the wife of John Shelby, Nashville physician, Postmaster, and civic and church leader, whom she married in 1809.
