  • Description:Half-length portrait of a gentleman wearing a black suit and cleric's robe with white shirt and neck tie. Subject has short curly dark brown hair parted at side, long sideburns and glasses. Brown background. Gilt wood frame.
  • History:Portrait was painted by sitter's brother who practiced medicine in Nashville and was on the board of the Columbia Athenaeum. The sitter was the headmaster of the Columbia Female Institute and founder and headmaster of the Columbia Athenaeum.
