  • Description:Setting in Trossacks region of Scotland with mountains and houses. There are three characters--the Lady in bare feet with yellow dress and bluish shawl. She has red hair. She is in the arms of a Scottish man in a kilt, with a Sporren with 5 tassels and a sword. He wears a shirt and green jacket and a bonnet. He wears boots to the mid-calf. His hair is long and he has a beard. Another man is in the background with his clan behind him. This is probably Roderick Dhu.
  • Notes:Painting subject was taken from the poem "The Lady of the Lake" by Sir Walter Scott first published in 1810. The lady is probably Ellen Douglas and the Scotsman in the kilt is probably James Fitz-James, later to be found out as King James but could be Malcolm Graeme.
