Description:American watercolor of Anna Thillon in the play "The Crown of Diamonds," ca. 1840-52. She wears a dress with a blue skirt, red off-the shoulder bodice with long sleeves and large yellow cuffs with lace trim and white gloves. She also wears a large red hat with feathers or plumes.
History:Found in album of Charles Shoettel (album bound by John Walker, Book Binder, Corner of Walker & Eldridge Sts., NYC). The album descended in the family of John D. Ottiwell, who served in the 7th regiment of the NYC volunteers and was a delegate to the 1868 Republican Convention. The album remained in that family until April 2002.
