Young man with wavy brown hair worn combed back from his forehead and to his collar. Dressed in navy blue coat, vest, and long tie. Oval frame inset has "G. D. Hamilton" stamped into it in lower left.
History:1841-42, written on paper glued in front of case. Painted in New York City. Paper glued onto the inside of the front case says: "Cornelius Ver Bryck N.A./by/Fanshaw/1841-2." Exhibited Gibbes 2000. Illus. Christies, London, sale of May 13, 1997 catalog.
