History:Roman Chatov was born in Rostov, Russia in 1900. After the Russian Revolution in 1922 he came to New York with his brother. In 1960 he moved to Atlanta with his brother, Constantine, and they opened a studio together and taught art in addition to many commissions. Roman Chatov died in 1987
Notes:The owner's mother, Mrs. Clement Gile (Harriet Overton), won the portrait at a Swan Ball auction. She passed the portrait sitting to her daughter.
