Description:Frame is period gold plated copper with chased bezel. Oval of a silver-haired man with large brown eyes. His sideburns come just below his ears and he is dressed in a dark blue coat, vest, and tie with white shirt.
History:Paper inside has written on it in Dodge's hand: "Painted by John W. Dodge Nashville Tennessee 1845. From a portrait of Robert Woods Esq by W. A. Cooper: Woods was a prominent Nashville banker (firm of Yeatman and Woods) who left money in his will for a miniature to be painted for each of his 24 nieces. Dodge did the work during 1844 & 45 for a total of $950..."
